For caring for hair damaged by colouring, lightening or heat. It includes the Damage Shield shampoo and conditioner and the 15 ml K18 mask, with two ways to use them: one for mask washes and one for ordinary washes.
On a mask wash: shampoo without conditioner, towel-dry well, then work the mask through the lengths and ends and wait 4 minutes, without rinsing, before styling. On other washes, use the shampoo and then the conditioner, and rinse it out.
No — do not use conditioner before the K18 mask in the same wash. Use the conditioner on the other washes, when you are not using the mask, as the set describes.
Use it for your first 4–6 washes, then as your hair needs it, following the instructions on your pack. Keep to the 4-minute wait every time, without rinsing.
It is one of the options for hair damaged by colouring, lightening, chemical treatments and heat. If you have had a particular smoothing treatment, tell us its name and we will check that this is a good choice and what aftercare that treatment needs.
The K18 set has a leave-in mask, used with no conditioner before it and a 4-minute wait. The Wella Ultimate Repair set has a shampoo plus a conditioner and a mask that are both rinsed out, and you use either the conditioner or the mask in a wash. Apply the mask first as directed and wait 4 minutes. Then use a small amount of K18 oil on the lengths and ends, and wait another 4 minutes before styling damp hair, for the strengthening benefit. The oil is sold separately from the K18 set.
Both are the same leave-in repair mask with a 4-minute wait. The 15 ml size suits trying it out or travelling, but the number of pumps may differ because of the pump; use an amount that suits your hair's length and thickness, following the instructions on the pack.
